Featured in upcoming Fall Tour of Kitchens
Our clients for this space were a family of four including two busy professionals and two teenagers who wanted to transform their dated gray laminate kitchen into a calm, contemporary space perfect for entertaining.
We began with choosing euro frame walnut cabinetry with a slab door to maximize storage and create a clean, simple look. White quartz countertops imply a delicate marble, adding contrast to the dark walnut cabinetry and functionality with their low maintenance qualities. We continued the oak hardwood flooring from the main living areas into the kitchen to create unity of space. We incorporated a glass tile backsplash with pops of red to add visual interest and texture, contrasting the smooth finish of the quartz countertops. The quartz tabletop follows the unique line of the walls and custom banquette and unifies the room by continuing the red accents into the room’s main seating area. We also removed the wall between the living room and kitchen to make the space more social and easily accessible to the formal dining room. Open shelving for their collection of cookbooks lightens up the staging area beside the built-in refrigerator. Minimal hardware was chosen to emphasis the grain of the cabinets while a geometric black Silgranite sink contrasts the countertop and compliments the black veining in the Quartz countertops.
