A lake house fills up every summer with family and friends, and its kitchen and bathrooms get the hardest use. This South Haven home needed countertops that could take sand, sunscreen and a full house, and still look right in a bright, coastal setting. Scholten Kitchen and Bath supplied Cambria quartz countertops for the kitchen and bathrooms. Lakeside Surfaces fabricated and installed them.
The kitchen is built around a long island in Cambria Oakmoor, with room for a row of bar stools facing the cook. The same design runs along the perimeter, under a white subway tile backsplash, beside the gas cooktop and stainless double wall ovens. The soft grey and white veining of Oakmoor carries across the whole island, so it reads as one generous slab rather than a block of colour. It also keeps the white cabinetry and glass-front uppers from feeling cold.
The bathrooms don’t repeat the kitchen. Each one has its own Cambria design, chosen for its vanity: Roxwell on a white open-shelf vanity, Beaumont on a wood-toned one, Waterford on a dark furniture-style piece, and Rose Dale on a navy vanity with a vessel sink.
Quartz is nonporous and never needs sealing, so the counters wipe clean after a beach day. The result is a house that’s easy to keep, and a kitchen that holds a crowd.
